Pakistan Stock Exchange extends its bullish rally as the KSE-100 Index gains over 3,300 points

PSX Rally: KSE-100 Index Surges Over 3,300 Points in Early Trading

Pakistani stocks extend their bullish run as falling international oil prices and expectations of easing US-Iran tensions boost investor confidence.

ISLAMABAD, November 5, 2026 — The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its bullish momentum on Thursday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining more than 3,300 points in early trading amid improving investor sentiment following the US midterm elections.

At 9:45 am, the KSE-100 Index stood at 175,347.48 points, rising 3,334 points, or 1.94 per cent.

Investors showed strong buying interest across major sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies and oil marketing companies (OMCs).

Heavyweight stocks, including Mari Energies (MARI), Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC), Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Hub Power Company (HUBCO), Habib Bank (HBL), MCB Bank, Meezan Bank and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), traded in positive territory.

The latest gains follow Wednesday’s strong session, when the benchmark index advanced by 3,994.62 points, or 2.38 per cent, to close at 172,013.48 points.

Market sentiment has improved amid expectations that the Republican Party’s setbacks in the US Congressional elections could reduce the likelihood of further escalation in the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

International oil prices have also come under significant pressure. Brent crude futures fell nearly 9 per cent overnight, dropping below $100 per barrel. Prices have declined by approximately 20 per cent so far this week, marking a potentially sharp weekly fall if the trend continues.

Lower oil prices have supported global financial markets by easing concerns over inflation and energy costs. The decline has also encouraged buying in bonds and equities, while putting pressure on the US dollar.

On Wednesday, the S&P 500 gained 1.6 per cent, while European shares climbed to a two-month high following the US election results.

However, Asian markets delivered a mixed performance. South Korea’s KOSPI fell around 4 per cent, Taiwan’s benchmark index declined 1.8 per cent, while Japan’s Nikkei dropped 0.5 per cent in morning trading.

Technology stocks faced pressure amid concerns that election victories by Democratic candidates opposed to data-centre expansion could lead to tighter regulations and slower investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Analysts generally expect long-term demand for artificial intelligence, data centres and semiconductor technology to remain intact, although regulatory changes could temporarily slow the sector’s expansion.

For Pakistan, falling internaational oil prices and improving global risk sentiment have provided additional support to equities, helping extend the PSX’s recent upward momentum.
