Sony has raised its annual earnings forecast after reporting strong sales across its games, music and film businesses.

Sony reported a 44% increase in second-quarter net profit, which reached 449.6 billion yen. Strong performances from its gaming and film divisions helped drive the growth.
Gaming Business Benefits from Strong Title Sales

The company also expects its gaming business to receive a boost from the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto VI in November.
The latest instalment in the popular video game franchise is widely expected to become one of the biggest gaming releases in recent years.
Film Revenue Gains from Blockbuster Releases
Sony’s film division also contributed to the company’s stronger earnings.
